About the club
line

The club was unofficially launched with a Christmas dinner and dance in late November 2007 at the Hobie Yacht Club in Port Elizabeth. The club was formed as an affordable community for folks in the Eastern Cape who love anything to do with bows. The club is a home for hunters, target shooters and those who like to sit and talk nonsense with friends.

Who Can Join?

Absolutely anyone with an interest in bow shooting and bow hunting can join. Whether you are 5 or fifty, single or family you can join. Whether you have a bow with training wheels or a broom stick you are welcome. We have special low rates for family membership as the whole idea is that the sport should be enjoyed by the whole family. Our youngest active members are around 5 years and the oldest ones have forgotten their ages. Ladies are of course very welcome as this is a sport where you compete against yourself mainly.

What do we do?

As a club we hold monthly 3D-Shoots at various places. This is target shooting with serious attitude! The targets are 3D rubber animal likenesses set in real life situations. This way everyone gets to have some fun "hunting". Prizes and medals for all categories, cool drinks and food is always catered for. For the little ones who do not shoot there is always someone minding them leaving mom or dad with some freedom.

We also hold regular club hunts on bow hunting friendly farms. These hunts are for those who want to take their bow to the next level. There are always qualified PH's on the hunt from the club as well as the farm owner so it is the ideal time to learn the ropes from those who have been around the block once or twice.

We also hold a monthly meeting where we meet for a very short time and socialise until much later. At meetings the next month or two's activities are planned and finalised as well as having an topical talk by someone with interesting information to share. Talks vary from tuning your bow to skincare for hunters in the veldt.

Where and When?

The activities schedule for the year can be found on the activities page link at the top.

Monthly meetings are held every first Thursday of the month at the Moth Hall off Kragga Kamma road. Driving up Kragga Kamma road from Sunridge Park side you turn right just before you cross the railway line. Follow the dirt track for 250 meters and turn left into the Moth hall grounds. A cash bar is available with braai packs. You are welcome to stay afterwards and braai a choppie with the "manne" and the "ladies". Meeting start at 7:00 sharp but most guys are there from 6:15 onwards, shooting a bit (playing darts with bows or just bragging about the new bows) or just chatting.

What do I need?

You need to come to a meeting and meet some of the club members. You need nothing more. If you have a bow then you can immediately join in the fun. If you do not own a bow then come and see what they look like, and what you like - then you will probably go out and get one. Be warned - this is an addictive sport.
